On our way home from Nanyuki we stopped to visit a woman named Elizabeth who has opened her home to 10 orphan boys and supports 12 others with food and schooling. We stopped to pick up food for her and we went to the wholesaler in the market place. We were probably the only Wazungus (white people) in the entire village - people stared at us like we were aliens!
The market had huge bags of grain and corn and other staples. We packed bag after bag with flour, rice, sugar, salt, beans and piled it all up outside on the sidewalk. The hilarious finale is all those bags were delivered by a motorcycle taxi! We spent all the money we had - 28,000 shillings (about $280) and our hearts filled with such joy to be able to bless these children. The funds were provided by the kids and youth at my church and it is so awesome that children in America were blessing orphan children in Kenya!

I fell in love with Elizabeth the moment I met her and I just adore her heart for the children. She is one of so many who's heart has been broken by the children in her neighborhood who are alone and so she just opened her home to them. She told us that just the night before the children were going to bed without food and then a neighbor brought some rice and beans. She was thrilled at God's provision today because the food we brought will last over 2 and a half months!
